    2. Handed out the Programs of the New Deal Chapter 32 Chart
      1. This is to be filled out as students read Chapter 32 in order to keep track of the major New Deal programs being created and what their target goal is for the economy during the Great Depression
        1. This is DUE the day of the Uni 7 Exam
    3. Watched the following video to review the chapter and discuss key important ideas and concepts about the politics of the 1920s and the events leading up to the Great Depression. Through questioning and discussion, this video ended up taking the entire class period:

  3. Letters of the Great Depression Activity:
    1. In order to gain an understanding of the situation many Americans were experiencing during the Great Depression and to see patterns on who and where in the United States was suffering during this time, students read letters written by citizens during the Great Depression to the First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt.
    2. Students were to go to the following website and click on the different categories in order to read the different letters:
      1. Letters to Mrs. Roosevelt Website
    3. Students then were to fill out the following chart to keep track of the information they gleamed from the following letters:
      1. Letters of the Great Depression Chart and Organizer
    4. **Only did about 10 letters! Do not need to do all 20! Just choose 10 at random and then answer the last two questions at the bottom of the chart

Do not forget your  Programs of the New Deal Chapter 32 Chart!!

    2. Students were handed the New Deal Writing Practice Packet: Was the New Deal a success of failure?
      1. **READ THE FOLLOWING**: Students are given the homework assignment to read the Essay Prompt (located at the end of the packet) and outline an LEQ to answer that prompt. OUTLINE not write a whole essay.
        1. The Outline will include a thesis, supporting evidence, and the organization of the essay and where that evidence would be placed, organized/categorized.
        2. **Please note that yes, there are documents in this packet but this is NOT A DBQ and you do not need to cite documents in your outline. The documents are merely a way for you to gain background information about the topic and to practice reading documents.

  2. Finish Discussion of WWII
    1. We went over the “Just War Theory” in our “World War II Packet”
      1. The points outlined are said to be the needed aspects of a war if it is to be a “just” or “justified” war
      2. Listened and read FDR’s Pearl Harbor “Day of Infamy” Speech
      3. Discussed in groups if he adheres to the Just War Theory and in what ways
      4. Does the Just War Theory apply to wars of more recent history? Why or why not? Has that changed public opinion or support if these points are not adhered to?
        1. We will be revisiting this theory as we begin to discuss more recent wars in history, particularly during the Cold War
    2. Finished discussing Pearl Harbor
    3. Went over the United States Homefront during the war
